I'm not at all a radio person, just a tinkerer with a question... I have been making my own powered subwoofer using an old 40watt car amp and a PC power supply (outputting 12v DC at 4.6A max, perfect by my calcs).. I finally hooked it all up to my DVD last night, and it works OK... Except for some Power supply noise, so I wrapped some alfoil around the PS cables as an EM shield, seems to have worked OK, except..when I turned it on again, I was picking up a local AM radio station...I didnt notice this effect last night. Note..There is no receiver in the unit, its just a PS, amp and driver in an enclosure.... the input cable is 5 metres long, the station broadcasts at 729kHz, I'm assuming the input coax is acting as an aerial.. ever heard of this before??
